My buddy Tom and I, again... braved Green Lake today. The air was very cold and cutting right through my gloves as constant gusts of powerful wind battered everything.

We spent 3 hours covering a lot of water but hoping in my car in-between spots this time to warm up. I got my tacklewarehouse package and was excited to bust out my new Lamiglass 7'11'' heavy swimbait/flip n pitch rod and Abu Garcia Revo SX baitcaster. I put a Curado 201E7 on the lamiglass and a Abu Garcia Vendetta MH 7' rod on the Revo SX. Plus new matching reel grips(love them!).

We couldn't catch a cold for 3 hours but the new gear made my day. The lamiglass rod is perfect for a few different applications that arent going to be dynamite until the water and bass warm up but the Revo SX blew my freeking mind! I was making 45 + yard casts perpendicular to heavy wind w/ very little backlashes. It-is-awesome.

The reel was put to the test as I was ready to call it a day. All the sudden my lure felt as though it hit a thick weed patch. I set the hook and the line took off! The cool thing was, this was the longest fight I've had w/ a decent Brown. My lure was launched as far as the Revo SX could cast w/ the wind at my back and it just got to the strike zone. The fish weighed in at 2 pounds 4 ounces (now my 2nd biggest).

Put the fish back, watched it swim off, then we ran home. It was a really tuff day!!!!! Love me some new fishing gear to test!!

looks like a chatterbait to me but it's hard to tell from the photo. Great job getting out in the gnarly weather to break in the new rod & reel. Those Browns are serious predators.

Ditto on being serious predators. I've caught several throwing bass crankbaits, so they certainly must eat their share of smaller fish.

I don't see any chatterbaits, just some leafs on the fish. By the way if you click on the picture it will enlarge.
