Great day of fishing caught 6 nice fish and saved two kids from dying. If you are new to this lake listen closly .I've fished this lake my whole life as I grew up in Sprague.Don't ever go on to this lake wth out someone that nows this lake well.I'll be gladd to take anyone verses them turning up dead. These two young men where coming down the lake in this small boat they where coming back from fishing the creek that comes into the lake. They were coming up the southside neer the shore line in 335 feet of water at 26 degrees when they ran into one of the many rock towers that in the lake.Being 60 to 70 yards from shore they instantly sank ending up possibly 100 yards from land which on this lake land meens cliffs.three miles from the lauch.Don and where the only boat there and herd them sceaming when the boat sank.I'll finish later.

Dave, thanks for telling us about it. I have pulled several boats back to the launch at rock, but none have come that close to adding to the death rates at Rock. People, Rock is a strange lake. The area that it sounds like you found them is a spot we call the mine field. Just straight across the lake is the mini mine field. I swear that rocks pop out of hell and look for boats.

On the 14th, I noticed the water was about a foot from full pool now, getting muddy from the inlet to well south of Jensen Beach. Water temperature was 37.8 to 38.4.

This lake, and story resembles the scene "On Golden Pond" Where the old man and the kid navigate the boulder field in there boat. To reach a spot that likely contains "Walter". The monster rainbow trout.

This lake is something else. If the sudden gusts of wind and swells don't get you, the rocks will... I've always wanted to boat this lake, but there's no chance I stick my bass boat in there. I'd love to fish it, though.

I only fished this very scenic lake one time with my oldest son. We caught several very nice largemouth bass - My son's best fish was over 6 pounds. We had no trouble on the lake but it is easy to see that it could be hazardous.
