Will stared on the ice around 11:30am. Things were slow for me at first because this was my first time here but I did do some homework on the lake the night before so I kind of had a idea where to fish. Only caught some small perchs until I fished deeper (20-30ft) on the westside of the lake from the public boat launch. It was about 4:00 then one fish after another. I came home with 20 really nice size perch (7-10") and 15 crappies. I did also catch some small large mount bass that only 6-8" but were all released. I don't know if that was the hot spot or if it was just feeding time. All tho I am a trout fisherman also I never even rigged up my setup for them. So I couldn't give you guys a report about it:P I left around 5:30pm so I really only had 1+ hour of action but I did iced 3 really Nice crappie over 10 inches that really made my day and probably made me wanting to come back again soon before the lake closes;) GL fishing and be safe.

Where did you find those slabs!
I typically fish Waitts at least 5 times a month in the summer and have taken many perch on the west side but only a few crappie.

Oh by the way, I have caught hundreds of perch on that side of the lake this last summer and have noticed tape worms in about 10% of them. It is no big deal if you cook the fillets well and or freeze them for a day or two to kill the parasites and their eggs. I have not seen this issue in any of the crappie, bass, or blue gill I have kept.

@Elijah: thanks..

@Perchboy: Honestly I couldn't tell you if it was skills or lucky of the draw. It was my first time there and I must of hit it right on time. I used a Swedish pimple (sliver with green back) to attract, then a (perch color)with jigging spoon (glow in the dark) baited with maggots. I only caught those 3 big ones but the other crappies were your average sizes (4-7"). I worked hard for those fish and did lots of hole hopping. I haven't clean the fishes yet but will keep a look out for the worms. Thanks for the heads up. GL fishing and be safe;)
