I delayed launching today in hopes that I could catch the weather transition from high to low. By 11:00am the pressure was still sitting pretty high and figured that I’d better get out there while the getting was good. I targeted the south end of the Lake and though I did find bait, nothing was in the mood or in the area to hit any of the lures I tried. It is that time of the year when the fish run upstream to spawn, and I suspect that my have contributed to my poor outing. The winds were out of the south the entire day and picked up in intensity as the day went by. I ran my standards, mini hoochie, mini cutplug and Apex lures throughout the water column, without even getting a takedown. By 3:30 I had enough and headed back to the launch. As it turns out, the pressure didn't drop until after 5:00pm.

When you say, "Upstream to spawn".... I also hear at this time fish in the shallows for cruising cutts. looking for an easy meal. Do you agree with fishing within 8 mph speed buoys? at this time.

Yes, it is about time to break out the pontoon boat and troll the shallows. I've found that if you have an electric motor or can use oars to troll, it becomes more effective. I also believe that some of the fish are lake spawners and are in the shallows to do their business. The lake stays cold enough and contains plenty of O2 through May to make "beach spawning" a viable option for any salmon or trout in these waters.

I like the pics. What model fish finder is that?

It is a Lowrance HDS7. I used to have a LMS527 that provided great images as well. Really, any of the higher end Lowrance products will get you a good image.
