Took the guys out to Bead last night from 8 -12 in search of some Burbot. Thanks to Officer Erickson we didn't have to drive all the way from Spokane in hopes that the ice was thick enough. I left a message with fng and not only did he call me back but he walked out on the lake to give me a report. Ice is thick, 2 inches with a layer of slush then between 6 and 8 more depending where you go. We went straight out from the public boat launch, left, right, far and near. Drilled probably 20 holes anywhere from 20 to 100 feet. We had never fished there so it was a lot of work for no fish. We used; glow in the dark jigs, plastic crawdads, and bouncing betty's smothered with worms and several kinds of smelly jelly. I had a few bites and one nice fish on for about 20 seconds but then he decided he wasn't ready to be fried. The weather was perfect and we had a great time. No other anglers but plenty of holes drilled in the last week. I plan on heading back asap so any advice on where to go would be much appreciated. Lake was frozen as far as we could see and we walked straight out from the boat launch several hundred yards and all holes drilled were plenty thick. Again any help would be great I've never caught or eaten burbot but I would really like to.
