Me and a friend went on Lake Sammamish today since I had the day off and tried the Northern end of the lake. For the past 10 days or so, there has been pretty light winds although the weather has been really cold for this area. That hasn't kept the trout bite from turning off though. We caught 15 trout today trolling needlefish at a depth of 15 feet. It seems that there is a hatch going on in the mornings and with the winds light, the trout are rising everywhere on the North end of the lake to about Idlewood Park. Other boats fishing the area were also doing really well with a trolling speed of about 2.5 mph.

We then dropped down for perch and found a good bunch of fish in about 62 feet of water. The bite was ok for them and we managed to put together a bunch of perch, but there were squawfish mixed in as well which are no longer swimming. It was a great day of fishing. I took a pic of 1 fish we kept. We released all trout except 3 which were hooked too deep. The average size of the trout were 14-16 inches with an occasional big fish mixed in.

Lovely work and nice write-up! I have a few NeedleFish in my backpack I always fish w/. Haven't put one on in years though. Which pattern were you trolling... and did you have it tipped off w/ any type of bait? No dodger in front either? Keep on rocking!
