Had a great day on Lake Chelan. Competed with a buddy who used his own boat and I mine..
When I say great,I don't mean in big numbers but quality and consistency.
Most fish were found from Abbotts point up to the monumental. Fish were in 35 ft or less. Water temps were 56 degrees and some overcast.
My buddy was throwing mostly cranks but ended up drop shotting. Drop shot got his biggest fish. I started out with a Lucky Craft Staysee.
Caught one but the rest of my fish came on several different plastics using finesse carolina, split shot and darter head jigs. All baits used were MAD BASS grubs, sleeches> 3"&4",and 3"/4" tubes. The colors were mostly anything with a green base, some red flake, etc. We did use some new prototype plastics I can't devulge now.
By end of day my buddy had 9 fish, biggest 3#'s plus. I had 14 at 2#'s plus. The fish were solid and fat. All sizes gave a great fight making you think you had a bigger fish. With the temps at 56 and the fish in shallower water, I feel this kind of bite will go on for another week or so. Better get to Lake Chelan while you can..

We caught most of ours in 50' or so, so it's all relative. Last year we had a trip where we caught smallmouth no shallower than 65'. On Chelan and Roosevelt, he's right, on Potholes or the seep lakes, I'm with Amx ; )
