My buddy Greg and myself Spent the day over at Lake Hummel on Lopez Island.
Water temp = 45-48 degrees, the sun was shining and it was 75 degrees.
We Fished from the limited shoreline access and we were using every combination of eggs, marshmallow, power bait, in our tackle box with every conceivable length of leader. We didn't witness any surface action and thought that the water wasn't warm enough to get the fish active. Well about 4 hours into not catching any fish. We cursed his father in-law for sending us out to this empty pool of water and decided to voice our displeasure on the cell phone. It wasn't more than 30 seconds into the call when I noticed that my pole was bending into a U shape. Well I simultaneously looked out over the water and jumped over to my pole to stop its progress towards the water. As soon as I picked up the pole the line went slack and we turn to look at each other to make sure that we both seen the same thing being that we had both been imbibing in some adult beverages when all of a sudden there's this fish jumping 2 feet out of the water and thrashing for all it's worth. My pole explodes with action and I darn near drop it.
