Hit the lake this morning at about 9:00am for the maiden voyage of my new boat. Wanted a nice big open space to figure everything out. :) Launched at Mag park and trolled south along the west bank. About twenty minutes in hit a Kokanee on a small size Brad's wiggler in green with red highlight. Released.

Switched my girlfriend over to a cowbell and char. wedding ring tipped with salmon egg flavor power bait about an hour later and she promptly boated 4 more Kokanee. One was "technically" a sockeye as it was about 16". Released them all unharmed.

No downriggers. 1 oz bannana sinker, 75 pulls back was the trick. Trolling at about 1.7 - 1.8mph per the GPS.

For a day just wanting to get a feel for my new boat, we had a blast. Even the sun was having a good day. :)

Thanks for the report. I also have the use of a new boat, my dad-in-law inherited and am eager to get it out. Cool to hear you can fish without downriggers and still have luck.
