Fished the combo bass-walleye tournament out of MarDon on October 1 and 2. I normally fish the WSBF Scholarship tournament at Banks on this weekend each year, but my usual partner had other plans. So another friend suggested we try this tournament instead. We liked the challenge of multi-species, and liked the format of big-fish instead of total weight. We highly recommend people learn more about this tournament and get involved....there were only 6 boats this year, and with a $200/team entry, the payout can be nice! We caught limits of bass both days, but only picked up one walleye on Saturday and none on Sunday. Our bass on both days were mixed with Smallmouth and Largemouth, with Sunday being our better day....our 3 fish were all over 4 pounds, with the biggest largemouth at 5.4. This was my partner's first tourney and he had the hot stick, landing all the big fish. I think I've got him hooked on it! Check out MarDon and KPQ for photos. Air temps in the 60's to 70's. Water temps 62-64. Winds mostly light out of the south and west. Partly cloudy both days. Don't know the exact water level, but folks said it hasn't been this low in 8 years. It was at its end-of-summer low point I'm told. Best spots were around small patches of cover in the dunes and Crab Creek.

6 boats, wow! Good for your odds I suppose, but maybe not so hight on the pay-out.
