Headed to Kellogg Lake to try for some LMB and maybe pick up a trout. Iv'e only fished hear once before and got skunked but the lake looks good and I thought I would give it another shot. Launched around 6:45a/m and oared through the channel leading to the main lake. Got about 1/2 way through the channel and couldn't resist making a few casts. Caught the first bass within the first 5 minutes and fished the rest of the way through the channel with nothing else to show. Made it past the beaver dam and out on to the main lake to work my way counterclockwise around the shoreline. Picked up a couple more on the east side tossing a shallow running crawdad pattern crankbait and a split floating trout pattern rapala. Got over to the Northwest corner by the old dock and pilings, using the crankbait I caught the biggest of the day weighing in at 1lb. 9oz. "it's the one in the pic." Ended up catching 8-10 bass with most being around the 1lb. to 1-1/4lb. size.
Made a couple of passes trolling for trout but nothing to show.
Had a couple rain showers, one was pretty heavy, but mostly calm and cloudy.

I love Kellog lake, you feel like your a million miles from anywhere. Thanks for your report. Sometime try anchoring up, about 60' into the main lake above the beaver dam. Pitch your trout rig back to the deep side of the beaver dam. I had some locals tell me that trout hang around on the deep side of the dam's edge. ( haven't had any luck myself though on trout in this lake)

Good report. Hey is there a road that leads right to lake to launch a small 8ft row boat? Last time I tried to get there I couldn't get close to the lake in the late 1980's. I could see you could go cross country over logs and debris to get to the lake but looked like too much hassle. If you have driving directions that would be helpful. thanks James

Thanks Quad, I might try this lake again in the near future. If I do, I'll target the area by the dam and see if it pays off.
James, I sent you an email with a map and some directions for the launch.
