Another nice day on chain lake. Got there and it was windy, put in and then it started raining pretty hard but wind died completely, then the sun came out and it was glassy. Then some clouds rolled back in and wind picked up.

I got outfished by my 5 year old fishing partner. I let him troll my trusty Rapala F5 floating perch. He hooked and landed a pretty decent size bass first lap around the lake. Then later on he hooked a native cutthroat on same lure. It was a great fight for such a small fish, it fully breached the water three times. Both fish were handled carfully and released, (especially the cutthroat).

We fish ultra light gear, 4lb test. I Got 0 fish on but got some tiny bites, probably from dinky bass. Oh yea, early yesterday morning I saw a (at least three feet in length and girthy) rainbow trout a foot under surface, right next to the bank, four feet from my boat. It swam casually by my boat and lure. If startled me at first, looked like a salmon or steelhead almost. Serously big fish.

I wish my pics would have showed up. The largemouth was probably three pounds or more and the cutthroat was beautiful.

It was definantly a trout of some form. I talked with a older gentilmen yesterday and he had a simaler experiance with a fish of the same size that Just swam right by the boat. I knew they were in there, just got to find out how to get it to bite.

I fished Chain this morning for bass; got 5 all in the 10 - 12" range. Fishing probably would have been better in the afternoon when it got a bit warmer.
