Had a good day on Billy Clapp. First time we had ever fished this lake and it started slow with only a few bites in the first hour or so. Then I caught the first smallmouth around 1# on a perch color crankbait. Caught a few more about the same size and then the crankbait went quite. Switched to a jig with a watermelon seed curlytail and started catching more smallies off the bottom. Then we caught our first walleye and were hoping for a keeper but it came in at only 15". Shortly after that caught the big bass of the day a fat 2# smallie. Caught 6 more walleye all about 12". All the fish were fat and feeding on sculpin in the rocks. All in all a fun day on a lake we had never fished before.
