This lake is so full of snails--they're all over the bottom, and
bobbing about the entire lake. Tried flipping an F4 flatfish along some of
the shoreline; had a few followers but no takers. Saw a few rises but the
water is so clear that my sloppily presented flies were ineffectual. Trolled
a silver Dick Nite with better success, and man do these fish have spunk! I
kept to the water less than thirty feet deep. Be prepared to fight a
multi-directional wind (quite fun in a canoe...). Fished in the middle of
the day. Sure wish I had had time to fish the evening hatch!
Anybody do any good in Mountain Lake lately?
