Fished with some good friends finally, after a long time not fishing together. We took two boats, with two of us in each boat. We started at about 6 a.m., and quit about 4 p.m. We went after smallmouth for most of the day, from Minneapolis Beach, up lake. We should have went down lake. This was the slowest August smallmouth bite I've seen in many years. I think between the 4 of us we had a dozen smallies. We enjoyed the hot sun, and took a few dips off the boat. In the late afternoon, we decided to try jiggin' for lakers, since nothing else was producing. I landed two and lost one, drop shotting a white plastic swim bait, in 160-190 feet of water off of Pat and Mike's. And that was it. Water temps were 66-70. Air temps in the low 90's with very little wind and no cloud cover to speak of. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed a nice summer day, despite the most boat traffic I've seen on Chelan in a long, long time.
