After our sucsess the day before, Logan77 and I went back up to Larson for more crappie fishing. We used the same method as before, a red and white jig about a foot under a bobber. We didn't catch a fish until nearly sunset, when the fish started feeding. Logan caught 2 small crappie, 4" and 6", and I caught a 8" and a 5". We both missed several fish, lots of take downs on our bobbers. Wasn't as good of a day as Saturday though.

Hi kwcc, That lake is stacked with crappie and you are right they go crazy right at sun down. Try using a smaller hook and you won't miss as many fish. A guy I met out there a few summers ago used to meet me out there for fishing challenges and there was nights that we both caught as many as 40 fish each. If you don't mind the bats the fish bite well into the midnight to 1 am hours. My method was to just cast out my jig and slowly retrieve it without a bobber and I did really good that way. The fish are usually only 10 feet out and sometimes right at the bank. I also caught a few nice trout on the same little jigs that the crappie like.

Thanks for the tip, and yeah, the fish are really close to shore. When we went sunday, I pulled out a 12" crappie just a few inches off the shore, and the bigger one in the picture on this report was only a couple feet off shore near a stump sticking out of the water.
