So, my Buddy and I started out around 6:15 am on Lost Lake. My buddy was in his canoe and I was in my pontoon boat. I paddled straight across the lake to the Lilly pads directly across from the boat launch and within 5 minutes had my first fish on before my buddy even reached the other side of the lake. From that point on it was an awesome day. I caught all my fish on Hook and worms but and tried a few top water lures with no success. The fish would hit it within the first couple of seconds on each cast as the worm sunk. My buddy went back and forth from fly fishing with a leach pattern to spinning real and pole using worms. The water felt warm (not sure of the temp) but my feet and legs were in the water most of the day and were warmer than the parts of my body that was out. The Lake was calm as glass most of the day with a half hour here and there when the wind picked up. I fished till around 3pm and kept a total of 6 Small Mouth and put back around 6-10 dinks. My buddy caught and kept a nice Rainbow trout around 12-13 inches and put back another 2-3. He also caught a handful of dink size Small Mouth but put all of his back to grow larger.
I smoked my 6 bass on Sunday in a propane smoker with Mesquite chips and wow they taste great. I just went online and found a Brine receipt that used Salt, Sugar, Brown Sugar, Soy Sauce and water... It worked fine but someone once told me about a Blueberry Brine and I wanted to try it but could not find a recipe for it.... If anyone knows of one please feel free to pass along... Anyway it was a great day of fishing... Tight Lines

never seen any smallies in that lake? those in the picture are largemouth. remember 12 inches and under, 5 per person. 1 of those can be 17" or over but best to let them live. catchin sure is fun.

If no ones ever keeps any bass you will always catch the dinks. I don't keep them but I have no problem with someone keeping a bunch of 10" s. My 2 cents

Hey, Guys thank you all for the input... I was under the impression that my limit was 6 and was unaware of the 12 inches and under.. Yes one of those was larger than 12. I was also told by several other people at the lake that these were smallmouth not Large.. I thought they were largemouth myself but went by what I was told. I will defiantly take all of your comments and use them from here on. I usually release most if not all the fish I catch however this time I decided to keep some as I have been told that Bass taste real good. After smoking the ones I kept, I agree they do taste very good. I most likely will not keep them very often but from time to time think I will keep a few to take home and smoke again... since this lake is filled with dinks. I have never had been skunked on this lake.

If you actually read the regs then you wouldn't have to be"under the impression" but you would actually know what the limit, and size limit was. It's really not that hard.

We all hate to see bass on stringers, but got to give you props for stepping up and admitting you had made some mistakes Bothellfisher. I mean, on one hand you had a great day fishing and want to post your report on here, but then get hammered by some people in the process. Anyway, I'm sure you are aware of the situation now and will take that into consideration next time out. Keep em coming, tight lines.

Nice trout! Theres some nice ones hanging around in there. Get those bass out of there! This lake has native cutts that are getting wiped out because of those bucketmouths..
