Had a guide trip on Lake Washington on the 10th with J.W. Brewer, return client from Indiana. Weather was great, fishing wasn't too bad. Started out with topwaters fishing shallow flats adjacent to deeper water, had one big blowup, but the fish didn't hook up, and we couldn't get any response from the follow up baits. The sun came up quickly and we moved up towards the north end to target largemouth. After about an hour with no activity we switched up and started fishing jerkbaits and spinnerbaits and after catching a few small fish, we switched up to shakeyheads and drop shot rigs and targeted deeper docks around mercer island to finish out the day. Final tally was 10 smallmouth with most in the 1-2 pound class, and 2 in the 3 pound class. Sniper Bolts in Dark Brown took the bigger fish, and Robowoms in Aarons magic color accounted for several others as well. I also took one decent fish on a shakeyhead with a Reaction Innovations Flirt in the Okeechobee Craw pattern.

The stickleback minnows are dying off right now and floating all over in the water, which is creating an abundance of forage, and I personally think that's making the fishing a bit tougher as well.
Tight lines!

Hey man, I can't say definitively, but I'd be absolutely shocked if smallmouth don't eat sticklebacks, especially when they are half dead, and such an abundant and obvious easy meal for them! Thanks for the comments!
