OK, my wife JoAnn and I arrived around 6pm at the lake and launched (at Horseshoe Cove) with the plan to fish for a couple hours and then find an anchorage for the next morning's fishing. So that gave me a couple hours to get gear organized and everything running tip-top, and maybe even get an evening bite.

I also decided to try a couple spots I hadn't before. So we set our trolling run from Maple Grove point to the point across from Swift Creek. Ran three lines (I have the 2 pole endorsement), 2 on DR and 1 on a Deep Six. Straddled depths from 20-40 ft. The wind was a challenge as it was pushing us along too fast. I put out a sea anchor and got our trolling speed down to 1.5. Gear were the usual suspects with new for me, a small chunk of cured pink sand shrimp. We managed just one bite which didn't stick.

But it was worth it as you'll read for my next report...

Keeping with your theme of avoiding the crowds, I'll reply on this report thread :-)

Nice to see you and your wife teaming up! Looks like that morning bite is where it is at with those fish. As for catching fish easier when the better half is out, I too have that problem. Makes her wonder whather I'm fishin' when I'm not catchin' LOL. Great report, along with all the Baker reports. Tremendous area to get out to.
