Yes Virginia, there are Tiger Muskies in Newman Lake. Well it's finally happened. AJ's Dad has caught an actual Tiger Musky over 14". That's right, I must have reached the 10,000 cast mark or something. I finally figured it out. You have to go fishing by yourself, leave your camera at home, and leave your crappie rod in the rod locker. I finally stayed patient and fished for these things for 4 hours straight. I caught this fish at about the 2 1/2 hour mark. He took a liking to a Dynamic Lures, Dynamo 4 piece jointed swimbait. The manufacturer sent me a few of these lures to try out, this spring. I have used them a little sparingly, while waiting for the fish to get a little more agressive, but have thrown them for Pike and Tigers. Finally got a Tiger to take the blue and chartruese lipped version today. These lures have a great swimming action and I look forward to catching many more fish on them this year. The fish was no monster. 32" x 14" girth. She mad a couple of nice jumps before making it to the boat. Sorry I had to lay her on the deck for a minute to get a photo and a measurement. Please don't hammer me with "How to handle a Musky" tips. Thanks Doug W. for the tutoring, wish you could have come along. It was a great experience on the water today. Too bad some A hole had to shoot a potato gun in my direction from the deck of his cabin. His spud missed me and my boat by about 25 feet when I was about 100 feet off shore. He got good distance on that thing. As the water was settling from his launched potato, I got the hit from this fish. Good thing he missed the boat or I may have had to take a trip to shore for a little "Discussion". This fish proves that if you don't give up, even an old pike fisherman can catch a Tiger Musky! Happy Fishing
