We put into the water about 5:30 AM and on the fishing grounds a llittle before 6:00 AM. We caught five in the first couple hours but the last one came hard. I was holding out for a good one for my last fish. (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it)
Finally about 9:30 AM I hooked up with my final fish.
We fished hoochies on one pole and bare hooks on the other.
Both worked, but the hootchy had the edge.
At about 8:00 AM the hootchy had five hookups and four in the boat.
In that same time frame the bare hooks had three hookups and three in the boat. Then it went dead for an hour.
We still fished a hootchy because I have a two pole permit, but the last hit came on the bare hooks.
The early bites were shallow about 15 to 20 feet, but the last one was at 30 feet. Seems they go deeper as the sun comes up and they get lockjaw.
Final score 6 for 7 -- I think we dun good.
