wow, I love this lake! Coming up here is a treat. I fished with Big Bass Dez and Tyler Walker on a wet/clear/wet kind of day. We started the day off by being solicited in the parking lot by a man and woman who wanted to know if we would like to buy some earings? 7:15am?? No thank you...

I could not believe, it was a Saturday morning and we were the ONLY bass rig on the water. Does no one bass fish lake Whatcom? Amazing for any day, let alone a Saturday morning. Anyway, we started the day fishing off shore flats for suspended fish, using reaction baits and surface lures. Got a few, no great size. We moved on closer to shore and as the day progressed found fish "target fishing" to docks and off shore flats/stumps. Plastics and jigs became the best producers at this point, although Dez caught some with spinnerbaits and cranks. We caught some, nothing huge, but pretty consistantly someone would be hooking a fish. The day ended with an amazing display of teamwork as Tyler and Dez worked a male and female of a bed. First the male, and then the female. Both immediately released (as were all fish) back to their bed. I was impressed, they've got skilz!

A great day on the water. Thanks Dez and Tyler for taking me out, what a treat. My boat has an old 2 stroke so it can't go on lake Whatcom. Tyler has a 21 foot, 250 HP Phoenix (he is a pro staff at Limit Out Marine). What a great ride that boat is!

Oh yes, video coming soon. :-)

Nice guys! I grew up on Lake Whatcom,, what a great lake. And you are right - bass pressure is very low.

That lake is definately worth the drive! I was up there last week, boated 34 from 10am to 4pm it was awesome! Had alot hooked that had a follower as well....if I wasn't by myself, it would have been cool to go for the doubles! As for the motor rule up there, I have talked to 3 different officers that have told me my 40hp 2-stroke is fine "outside city limits", I just use my trolling motor in the north end, but once you get past Strawberry Point, have at it. Or, you can launch down in South Bay and fish that end of Whatcom no worries.... It is a beautiful lake, go back in mid October, the foliage is really something to see!!

Hey Mike, I told ya that you would like that lake. Those coveralls are quite colorful -- looks like you even have room to grow a bit in them. Ha ha. Nice report! Bob J.
