I decided to try a few hours on Lake Washington by puttng in at the Samamish River. I trolled around for a few hours but only managed to catch a lot of weeds and two of these. I'm not sure what they were. Anyone know?

i have caught some of those to i think those are called squaw fish

squawfish.

Regardless of what they change the name to, or how many times they change it, they are just squawfish, and also known as crap fish.

I think that is crapfish with a capital C. I have caught a bunch a Mayfield also.

Down here on the Columbia people take advantage of the bounty on them and can make a ton of money.

my dad's friend cuaght one on the columbia with a yellow tag in it and he got 500 buck's. no kidding

theres a handful of dudes making 50-60 grand a year catchin them on the columbia

They make good crab/crayfish bait. Also, you can use strips of them to bait your lures for cutts and macks.
FYI - As well as having a small mouth and a bit more color than squawfish, peamouth are relatively small fish, reaching about 11" to 12" max. The state record weighed in at just a hair over 1lb.
