Me and my pal from Chicago fished this awesome SW Washington reservoir this weekend. I tried the 6-8" style which a lot of musky fishermen swear by but I learned that bigger is better. Big baits = bigger fish. We put 3 Tigers in the Frabill. A 39", 43" x 20" freak of a fish and a 44" inch Tiger that was a whole lotta hungry. Thats what she told me. All on BIG baits. Lost a couple others.. Saw several that were just out for a sunday cruise and a lot of small fish. 30" or so fish that love small baits.. I learned fishing back in Wisconsin recently you gotta go big. I shouldn't be so stubborn to conform. Probably would have caught a couple more had I changed earlier in the trip. These muskies are bigger and they want bigger lunches. What was being said a few years ago when this fishery starting to get warm was true but things change and the fish change. You gotta learn to adapt as well..See yah on the water, Todd

oh yea, the kokes are hitting too..

Hi Aaidian,
I don't go by that chart. Nor do i go by the formula. I do not feel it does these fish any justice. When the fish is 20 inches around from the back of the head to the dorsal fin/ anal fin thats about 2 1/2 feet of pure weight in itself. Plus the head. I weighed my net wet with a digital scale so i have that figured out. I just do not weigh the muskies we put in the net. Its a fatty (on the left) probably is close to weight record but the fish still isnt 50 inches so until I/we put one in the net I won't worry about it too much. Anything over 40 is what I am looking for mostly. Thats just me. I appreciate your comment for sure and so does my pal that caught the freak. Wiscony..those fish are from Merwin. We fished Merwin Saturday evening and I used small baits. Got the 40 + on Sunday morning. When I fished Wisconsin back in June we were between Crandon and Laona. About 45 minutes S.E. of Rhinelander. Thats where I finally got it in my thick skull to fish big baits. Just didnt actually do it till the next morning. And it paid off..Thats what I meant Wiscony. Sorry bout that.. Thanks guys. Todd

Very Nice fish Todd! Congrats. The first 44" that I caught last year had a girth of 21.5". She was also a tank. I have yet to catch one that has nearly that girth. I have maintained all along that bigger baits produce bigger fish. You are right on the mark. A majority of my fish late last year and this year have come on 8" or larger baits. The 10" 6 ounce Swimmin' Joe, by Joe Bucher has been one of my better producers. Keep up the great fishing!

I am hoping Mark puts a fish in the boat finally! I have fished with him quite a bit, and caught several while fishing with him. Half the time, I would like to hand off the pole, but that just wouldn't be right! In all honesty though, I just want everyone to have a good time. If I catch a fish or not, I will have fun. I just hope we don't get skunked! I'll be happy for whoever catches a fish!!!
