A friend and I fished Baker Lake on 5-10-02. The lake was lower than I had ever seen it before, approx 50 below the normal water line but we were still able to get to a spot to launch my boat. We first tried trolling straight across from the boat launch w/o luck or any fish on the finder. After about an hour we headed towards the dam and the inlet straight across from the dam. We trolled wedding rings w/ egg and spikes and immediately got strikes one on top the other. We anchored and spent the next 2-3 hours chumming and catching silver one after the other with 3-4 13 inch rainbows mixed in. The silvers would chase the bait up out of the water on the retrieve, but were quite small the biggest about 10 inches. Also caught (and released) a 15 inch dolly using kastmaster deep. Heard the silvers are also hitting down stream in Lake Shannon and the water level is higher. Good luck out there.
