Two of us went out at 7 am which is when the boat launch opens. We fished at different depths but had the most sucess at about 25 feet. We were trolling a pink hootchee about 12 inches behind a uv slingblade. We caught lots of beautiful little kokanee with the optimum term being little. All the fish we caught were about 8 inches long. All fish were released. Any suggestions were to fish for larger kokanee?

Pretty sure I saw you guys.
That's about the same size I typically catch too by accident.
But when I target them in the fall, they are about 11-12" by then.

Imo, this lake has been consistently over-planted with Kokanee fry. The plant has been 50,000 every year. If they cut that in half just one year I think the food source would be able to rebuild to a healthier level for the fish, not to mention the fish would be bigger. Yes, I understand this could hurt the bass fishery which is boosted on the fry plants.
I am not trying to steer anyone clear here either, as I plan on fishing it later this summer. Thanks for the report.
