A wierd day, the fish seemed to be a bit, well, non committal. Headed out about 7:15am for the back side of snagg island. My friend was using a green Yamamoto Swim Senko and I used a Stanley Ribbit frog in the shallow shady areas. The Senko got several hits but I suppose nothing big enough to get the hook. What I assume to be a LM smacked the frog good as I burned it across the top like a buzz bait and it held on about half way back to the boat but again it didn't get the hooks and let go. Headed over to the other side and stopped in at the boat store for a part then started fishing right near their dock. Second cast with a white spinner bait towards shore and a good size bass ran out and smacked it, we both watched in amazement that it didn't get either the main or trailer hook. Fished on and managed a couple good hits around docks on the spinner before hooking a LM. Got this one to the boat but as I lifted it out of the water it shook and released himself. Looked to be about 1 to 1.5 lb. Gave up when it got too rough. Water temps all over were very close if not right at about 70. The bite should be getting good now I would think. Too bad it will be at least 3 weeks before I can get back out.
