So headed to the UW area with my friend Michael and my dad we headed out on our boat it looked like such a bassy area haha lily pads everywhere and so much cover we had no luck at catching largemouth at alll.....anybody know how to catch em there cause i know they are in there. anyway after 3 perch my friend caught we decided to put the boat in and fish from shore a bit...we followed the trail that goes onto a dock just across the stadium. I threw a perch colored jerkbait and caught 2 dink smallmouths. I picked up my friends rod with a black spinnerbait on casted it into the deep which is i say about 50 ft deep and let the spinnerbait sink all the way to the bottom then i started and pause and quick retrieve then this nice 2 pound smallmouth hit it she was FAT she fought hard to. What was surprising was that my friend threw there earlier but no luck he was using a slow retrieve so it obviously shows that bass do relate to different speeds and retrieves.

Bass also move in and out, back and forth. They also turn on, and turn off in seconds. Just a couple reasons you want to fish the same spot with more than just a couple casts, or just one speed, or just one lure.

I just want to say you do a great job "investgating" and work at trying to figure out how fishing really works. There's a lot to it besides just throwing out a lure repeatedly. When I was stationed in Louisiana I got into bass fishing down there so much, I could tell you what lure was best at 62F temp on a full moon and when the bass farted and if it was a male or female!

Great reports though...way to keep us posted!
