The weatherman once again totally botched the forecast. But, this time in our favor. A friend and I decided to avoid the mob at Mineral and instead took the kids to enjoy a late afternoon trip to Tanwax.

The launch was in good shape and though it was busy we found room to park. Had a fat rainbow in the boat......... on the first cast no less.

We headed to a point on the north side halfway down the lake. Tossed in an assortment of baits and had fish in the boat in short order. Then worked to the far end of the lake and flogged the water with no results. Trolled down the south side and nailed one on an antique Dick Nite (kind had some white paint left on it).

Pulled into a side cove and tried it again. But the Power Bait hatch must have been over.

We trolled along the shore back to the launch and managed to snag a broken line with a nice 13" trout on it. This was the umteenth glob of line we brought in which should remind others to keep discarded line in their boats.

Finished the day with 8 trout and a perch between the four of us. Nice way to spend a gorgeous afternoon.

A couple of insights for other anglers. Courtesy on the water isn't what it used to be. Give others some space and minimize your wakes. It isn't just the skiers who are guilty of this.......and keep discarded line in the boat. It was nice getting that bonus fish but it could have easily been wrapped around the prop.

But, if you want a fun couple of hours on the water (hopefully shared with some kids) then Tanwax is worth the trip.
