Probably a two star day most of the time beings I usually struggle in Alder but today ended in f1sh1nf00l and me hooking and boating 5 fish, of which 2 were LMB and the other 3 were smallies.

Caught the fish in 6 to 8 feet of water all holding close to stumps. None of the fish were big, hence, the lack of a photo. I would estimate the smallest being a pound and the biggest being 2...maybe???

Fish caught on watermelon/creme senko, Upton's custom baits Reaper in ghost color (white), and one caught on a green pumpkin tube.

Water surface temps were pretty much 61/62.

Seen many, many more fat old basses holding tight to stumps and cruising around but I think that they were pretty much just chuckling at us dumb humans:/

Where I was fishing yesterday, I saw the same thing....LMB, 5lbs plus, just cruising around! But the smaller ones were active!

I love bass fishing Alder. The bass in that lake are just footballs with the most gorgeous colorings. But after spring when the lake starts dropping I have a heck of a time finding them. I figure they either suspend or go deep. In mid July of last year I did catch and release five largemouth from 2 1/2 to 6.2 vertical jigging on the old railroad bridge which was under 32 feet of water at the time. I came across the spot quite by accident and spotted the bridge and the eyebrows of bass stacked on it on my graph recorder. But fishing deep is usually much tougher, so far more often its been a fish here and there scattered along the shore. Not much reward when I'm driving from south of Seattle to get there. Keep the reports from Alder coming.

@ rickydbasser, I agree. I really struggle in that lake but it has to be one of my most favorite lakes to fish. You see so many fish and the ones you catch are just chunks and so healthy and fat. I don't think that they lack food there.

Thanks for the report arnie. I've been doing to many musky trips this year but the family and I are planning a little bass/campout
at Alder. I'm surprised that the lake level is still down a bit but I suppose 9 feet shouldn't be to much of an issue.
Thanks again
