Caught a couple of smallmouths, one about two pounds, as well as a rock bass trolling a perch colored crankbait in about 12 feet of water on the north facing points. Then I picked up my largest tiger of the year (and a contender for my largest ever), about a 34 incher, maybe 10-12 pounds or so. A nice thick one in super shape. It inhaled the perch crankbait and made several good, strong runs against the drag as well as 3 or 4 nice tail dancing displays in the air. Very exciting action on a light action rod! Of course, I left the net and my camera at home so I beat it up real good and decided to tail land it using a wool glove. Finally got it to the side of the boat and then the line broke at the knot. The fish happened to be positioned just right and I reached in and grabbed it by the tail while it lulled about and brought it into the boat. One of the more wild landing I have had! It took some time to get the hooks out since I really did not want to get my hands inside it's mouth and too close to those teeth! I worked the fish back and forth on the release and watched it swim back to the depths. Bummed I did not have a camera. I tried to get a picture on my phone, but suspect operator error resulted in no picture being saved. Good day and a nice fight!
