I started fishing about 20 minutes to 7 and got my last one about 8. I got my first fish east end of the island about 5 minutes after I started. Then it seemed like quite a while before I got another. I stayed by the island but when that didn’t produce I went toward the North Park launch after I changed out my big dodger to a watermelon one with the Wannafish A Lure Bloody Mary. My other rod had the 50/50 combo I had been using at Clear Lake and it produced the first fish and the second. The third fish I got really close to the Launch area as I was putting out the 50/50 rig, I reached down to put it in the clip and I had a huge bite and it pulled my hand away from the clip and just kept tugging. I was afraid I would loose the fish if I let it go but there wasn’t anything I could do about it except let go and reel FAST. Yep the fish was still there and was third in the box. The wind was just a breeze when I started toward the North Launch but now it was really blowing. So I thought I had better head back to the island where I could get out of the wind. That is where I got my last two fish. I got the fourth netted and in the boat. I was unhooking it when I glanced at my other rod which was bobbing up and down madly and I see the fish burst out of the water in the distance. I grab that rod and put the motor in neutral and start reeling. This fish is pulling really hard which takes my rod tip into the water under the boat and I think “I had better get that down rigger up.” So I try doing that while the fish is going all over and you guessed it...right for the down rigger ball. The lure is wrapped around the cable but there was enough line for me to get the net under the fish. But first I have to get the other fish out of the net. It unhooked itself and dropped itself into the net just in time. Fifth and done! What a great morning of catching. Awesome fish! They were 25-30 pulls off the reels back and from surface to 22 feet deep. I was in 30 to 100 feet of water but I couldn’t tell you for sure what depth I was in to get the fish. So Bloody Mary got one fish and 50/50 got four.
