Took my 11 year old grandson out for our first-ever fishing trip together. We were on the water by 07:30, pretty morning, not too much wind. Fish started biting within the first 10 minutes, and bit steady all morning. We had our limits by 10:45, mostly cutthroat with 2 or 3 rainbow, 11 1/2 to 13 1/2 inches long, Very pretty fish, nice orange meat. He got the first fish, then we stayed even up to 8 fish, and then I quit and he caught the last two.

Grandson trolled a #1 Needlefish in rainbow color. I trolled a 5cm Rapala in brown trout color. Got real tired of getting the Rapala out of the net! Our depth was 15 to 25 feet, and we covered most of the lake. They seemed to be biting everywhere.

The rainbows had normal rainbow color, but with a little orange under the jaw. Are these hybrid cutthroat/rainbow? Is that happening naturally, or are they being planted that way?

Nice. i was out on badger today too. might recognize the redneck blue boat. we still fished, trolled all the way down the lake, but only my bros boat caught trout. I caught some bass at the north end. thats it though. Bro's kid caught a 16 inch trout still fishing.
