We heard that Blue Lake was kicking out nice numbers of hold over rainbows over Memorial
Day weekend and the 1st weekend in June. Traveled over frrom the west side on Friday night and spent the morning and early afternoon trolling around on the south end of the lake. Marked a fair number of fish from 10 to 17 feet deep on this end of the lake. Trolled chartruese or red wedding rings tipped with nightcrawlers behind pop gear for the 1st 5 fish. Trolling speed was 1 to 1.5 mph. Catching was initially slow but after about 3 & 1/2 hours we switched to bucktail flies tipped with nightcrawlers behind small dodgers and pciked up the trolling pace to 1.7 to 2 mph and we caught the final 5 in less than an hour. Not the smokin hot fishing we had been hearing about, had to work for them a bit but all in all a good day on the water. All of the rainbows were 15 to 18 inches and fat. Caught one german brown about 13 inches in length. Fish were very feisty. Good fighters, lots of aerobatics, running under the boat, peeling line etc. Lots of fun.
