My two teenage boys wanted to hit Margaret again because we had a great time the last two weekends slaying those surface feeding rainbows. We got out there by 5pm this time...45mins earlier than the week before. We had the same Rapala F5, F7, and F9 foating minnows ready to go. My youngest had th F5 Fire Tiger, and even before I got my first cast in, he had a fish on. My older boy had the F7 Fire Tiger and started to get fish within minutes after my youngest boys first. I had the F9 Orange/Gold and got 5 fish this time only a little slower than last week. 5 fish were lost as we tried to get them into the net.
I slowed my presentation ( both boys followed suit ) this time a bit more because it seemed he fish were not hitting as fast as last week. So, I casted, let the minnow float back to the surface, waited for the rings to disapate, then slowly cranked it in - while randomnly twitching the rod.
Each of us experienced two casts each where seconds after the lure hit the water, a rainbow cleared the surface with the lure in it's mouth. What a show. These are fiesty little critters ( all were 9"-12" ). We had great fish slaying time!!
