Out to the lake for Memorial Day weekend. A lot of time spent out in front of the house fishing with my 5yr old, cathcing perch and a few rainbows and some small bass, but when my brother and I made it out in the boat is when we caught some bigger fish.

He lost a nice sized rainbow at the boat- thing looked like it could have gone 1-2lbs. We each caught a nice pig over by the flooded willow trees. Mine was a 6+lb Largie (close to my PB), and his a 5-6lb Smallie. A few other smaller LM and SM were caught over the weekend.

Heard the Koke bite was slow, so we did not troll much. Think I caught 1 smaller Koke the whole weekend- nothing special.

As usual, seen the deer and mountain sheep and the eagles, and the weather was decent. Little rain here and there, nothing too bad. Some friends that came up to visit even got to see a bear not far from the NW end of the lake.

The 2 big bass made the trip worth. Will be back in July when the water is warmer.

Did you take your boat way back into the flooded willows? I was there last weekend and fished both ends of the lake in the flooded trees. Lots of large carp were ruttuin' around in there and were seen, but we did terrible for bass.

Yes, we fished the outside and inside of the flooded willows. Even took the boat up the river almost to the bridge, but caught nothing but sqwafish in the river. Lots of others there that weekend, so it did get hit hard. And yes, we had seen the carp as well.

The big smallie hit a silver/ blue Sluggo, and my largie hit a pumpkin/ green Senko. Few smaller ones hit the #4 blue fox. Certainly not the most we have ever caught in a weekend, but the water was still cold. Larger rainbow hit a Rapala jerk bait, and some smaller rainbows, bass, and perch from the shore with a nightcrawler on the bottom. Most rainbows we had ever caught there in over 20 years.

Can't wait to get back up there next month when the water is lower and warmer!
