Went to Park Lake and set up on the bank off the highway close to the rest stop. Started at 7:30 AM. Fished until 4:00 PM. Beautiful Day, blue skys, 80+ temperature, not a cloud in sight. As a result the fish were a bit spooky and ran a little deeper. We used sliding sinkers above a swivel, a two foot leader and a gold treble hook with floating bait. We were using Zekes in Yellow. One of the guys blanked all day but his tackle was a bit heavy, with 10 pound test line. The second guy hooked two and landed one. First one broke off at the knot. He was using 4# leader on a fly fishing rod coupled with a spincast reel with 8# mainline. I was using a GLoomis Ultralight spinning outfit, 4# main line, and 2# leader. Again with two foot leaders. I ended up with a limit of 5 fish, the last one hjtting as we were getting ready to leave for the day. They were space through the day, very light bites, so I believe the light tackle was a key for them that day. Heavy tackle and you wouldn't be able to detect the bites. They were all nice trout with the shortest being 13 inches, three of them went 14 inches and two of them were 15 and an half.
Spent the day yacking with my buddies, having a warm nice day, cigars, coffee, and a good lunch. Not a bad day at that!
