I got a call from Andy a.k.a AFK from wa lakes to go up to Chelan county's Antilon Lake to fish for crappie yesterday. After reading Jordan's Antilon posting ,I was chomping at the bit to pursue some nice crappie and maybe a brown trout or too. After getting up at 3 a.m. I met up with Andy and we drove up to the Lake and had it all to oursleves. Beautiful scenery greeted us, but from the get go the fish catching was slow. Andy nailed some nice brown trout while trying for crappie on a hand tied Blakemore Road Runner spinner jig with a chatruse marbou tail. We tied up at the concrete tube on the south end of the Lake and we both began catching some bull sunfish, all of of which were over 8" ( see the "sunny"photo below). The crappie eluded us until I got one on jighead and crawler. It seemed that everytime we switched jig colors, ( Smoke jig skirts and grubs worked best) we would catch a decent sized crappie. All told we caught around 20 fish or so, 6 keeper crappie, huge sun fish and some fat (12 to 14") brown trout. We got blown off the lake, but had a hella good time. Thanks again Andy for your generosity. (Andy rated it a 3.5 day. Lol.) Hooking up for crappie trips with wa Lakes members has been a lot of fun. Let me know if any of you want to try it sometime. Jiggy
