Spent memorial weekend down at Panther Lake. More honey do's than fishing taking place, but nice relaxing weekend nonetheless. I'm spoiled from fishing out of my bassboat, so it's always an interesting challenge when I switch over to the john boat, especially with that wind that blows across Panther in the afternoon and evenings! The largemouth on Panther are just starting to move up and I found a few fish on beds. I spent most of my time flipping a 7" green pumpkin power worm on a 3/16 oz tungsten weight to laydown logs in 2 to 5 feet. I caught 3 largemouth between 2 and 3 pounds on that bait, and then I switched up to a Berkley Havoc craw fatty(brown/purple), and flipped up this nice fish. I didn't have a scale so not sure on weight, but a nice healthy fish nonetheless, my wife snapped a quick pic for me and then I released her. The trout fisherman all seemed to be doing very well, and I caught a few incidentals on reaction baits, when I switched up for a bit, but no size. All fish C&R'd.

Tight lines!
Dave

With the way the launch is I don't fish it much any more. Some nice fish in there. The spawners in there, are deep saw some last year in 8' of water big males. They wern't around the island, north of it. Good report! Nice fish!

thanks guys for all the comments. Hawg Hunter that launch is rough man, I've seen plenty of "episodes" of people (including me) trying to launch while others have their lawn chairs setup across the launch lanes by the water, and won't move. I'm all for sharing the launch, but it's gotten a bit out of hand, and it's very shallow! Luckily there are still some big quality bass in there, and it's nice to have a little place on the lake to go down to for a weekend and just relax. If you ever see me out there at the red cabin just to the left of the launch (facing the water), be sure to say hi!
