Fished Memorial weekend putting in 4-6 hours each day. Averaged about 3 fish per day. The WDFW did not plant any fish in blue lake this year so there were not any skinny hatchery fish. the fish caught acted more like salmon than hatchery fish. They hit like a freight train and ripped out line. There were repeated runs and dives, when they finally saw the boat they would turn and make another run. These fish are 16-20 inches and fat, I always bring 1 gallon zip lock bags to bring the fish home in. I could only put 2 or 3 in a gallon bag.
Wedding rings have the small hooks on them. These trout are large enough that the hooks were almost to small to hook in the jaw. I even had a trout straighten out a hook. I then put new larger hooks on the wedding rings and loosened the drag. I had better hook sets with the larger hooks.
In 4 days of fishing I landed 10 fish and lost 7. It was slow fishing but worth every minute of it due to the size and fighting ability of the large trout.

There were trout stocked this year, my father caught a few a couple of weeks ago. Not sure if all the planters have already been caught or picked off by the birds, but I sure don't mind the large holdovers!

You must have blue lake and deep lake confused. If you go to wdfw web site it shows all the plants this year. blue lake in grant county did not receive any plants.
