Was gonna hit up St. Clair for some LMB but on my way out there decided to try Lawrence because I have never fished it before. Launched around 2:00 p.m.. Not knowing the lake, at all, I was set to try an figure it out. Went right from the ramp and fished fairly fast looking for fish, beds, cruisers, bites, anything. Never found much of anything.

Fished most all of the main body of the lake. Did not fish the SW bay to the left of the launch. Lake is really rocky in places. Other places are super shallow for large areas. It may be two or three feet deep just a couple of feet from shore but it could still be the same depth 50 feet out. Kind of weird, to me, at least.

Threw some crankbaits in white and then in craw. Fished a blue fleck power worm and also a 6" watermelon/laminate senko. Also, for a short time used a green pumpkin tube. Lost one smaller fish from a dock on the north end of the lake on the tube. I would venture a guess that it was just under a pound. Caught a fat little one pounder or a little bigger from the lilly pads on the west side of the lake in 2 feet of water on the senko.

I saw zero beds, zero cruisers and only two small follow ups while reeling in. Water temperatures peaked at 61, but pretty much stayed right at 60. Some spots were 56-57. Clarity 5 feet or so???

Overall impression? Not too impressed and probably will not find my way back there anytime soon:(

Lawrence has some humonguous bass in it. I personally know of two tens and several eights that have come out of that lake. If you go back to that lake, don't ignore that cove to the left. It was probably 5 years ago a friend and I fished it right in the middle of spawn....I can't tell you how many bass from 3 to 7 pounds we caught and released. We were both fishing a weightless 4 inch Fin-S in rainbow trout. Anyway, alittle imfo.

They aren't spawning just yet, been there couple times this spring with temp close to yours. Those shallow flats, especially the rocky ones, throw a top water. Also the dry reeds are holding some, not sure about the greens yet. Take a tube, go weedless, and skip straight into them. Dropshot any vertical wood or concrete post or edges you come to, and if you do catch them on the spawn, please put'em back so we have them for next year. Good luck
