Nope, its just like humans. They don't all look alike. Just genetics or the place they were living in the lake! nice smallies!

I believe the one on the left is a male, the red color eyes and lighter color brown. I've read somewhere they really start showing their colors during the spawn.

The bite is definitely on, lots of beds in Eastern Washington lakes.

As a kid I grew up on east lake sammamish parkway. My parents lived in Waverly Hills which is next to the 7/11.Waverly Hills has a private boat launch & dock area. The red eye is because the fish is spawning, summer spawning will stop. My father and I would bass fish the lake for 20+ years. Matter a fact if you kayak down the east side of lake samamish you fish the docks with a silver & black floating Rapala size 7 or 9. Make sure you allow the lure to stay on top while reeling in slowly. This method works great early morning or night. When you get close to the Waverly Hills private beach, you will see a boat ramp on right side with a small finger dock. Follow the dock straight out till you line up with the wood step latter on the main dock. Where these 2 points meet there is 30 tires wired together as a reef. These were placed in that lake more than 20+ years ago. The other set of tire reefs is on the north side of the swim area next to the first post/ Swim dock. If you continue fishing past the private area the is a great drop off that runs to the end of the point. Best of luck if have any questions please email me.
