It's just been one thing after another keeping me off the water, and yesterdays weather was just driving me nutz thinking about it, so I closed the business down after noon and headed to Leland to check on the Crappie. I am just ecstatic to have found far more Crappie than I expected having returned to their normal hangouts after the black curtain of death (Cormorants) decended upon the lake; I only saw one of those and kept it flying by saluting it with a few choice words. The Crappie I graphed pretty much all had lock jaw but finally as the light hit the treetops a few decided they were not going to bed without dinner, nothing over 10" so back they went, and I home with a little better feeling about the fishery. Klahowya!

Yeah, cormorants AND pelicans hit Hutchinson/Shiner last year and really thinned 'em out. They need to thin out these predator birds a little. I saw one batch hit a pond that rears salmon. So, what haqppens when one protected species dines on another? Fines?
Good to know one lake is recovering! Thanks!
