Braved the wind, rain and cold and headed to the fabled "log boom park" Sunday morning. I've had zero luck all year so after a few positive reports from here, I had hope. Well, that was looking pretty grim upon arrival with waves crashing and debris everywhere. Started out using jigs and senkos in watermelon, black, purple, and red. Nada. Switched to a perch color jerk and thought I had some action. Finally, went with silver/pink/black back clak n rap, and on my 2,578th cast of 2011, landed this little lmb. No fight really but it was good to catch something other than a cold. Snapped a pic as proof and released. Only one out there(no surprise in that weather) other than couple guys walking their dogs out to the peir and saying I was crazy, lol. Oh, casted a few more with the same crank and low and behold, lost it on a snag. Story of my year so far, ha! Tight lines all.

Pretty impressive OCD counting that many casts! Just kidding. Nice start, and sorry about the lure. Hate losing THE ONE.

Thanks Aaidian, it definitely was nice to get the skunk off my back! FC, kinda ironic losing the only producer so far, lol. Just have to contribute to the clak n rap fund.

Awesome! You were nuts enough to fish in that weather, you deserved every ounce of that first fish. Congrats!

congrats on toughing out the conditions and catching one! i have yet to catch a bass this year on a lipless crank but i did manage a 1lber on a rapala fat rap. ever since my report, log boom has been completely fished out, not to mention the tough weather. one the weather warms up and the sun actually comes out to play, it should get better again :D

Those are some of the best fish of all, when you put up with terrible conditions, and the fish just aren't biting, but you manage to hook up. The fish in my profile picture was one of those from this last winter, cold, crappy day, and only got two fish, but those fish were quite gratifying.
GJ!

Thank Elijah, Mark and fnf! It was and has been a challenge this year so far. Hope with the warm weather on the way, things start to improve. Good luck all.
