On the water at 1:30PM with 70F degrees and clear. Went to work with jigs with only one hit but no hookups. Then switched to my most productive Kapowsin lure,a white spinnerbait. Caught several mini bucketmouths, nothing over a pound but no complaints. Most fish were caught in approx. 6-10 feet of water near downed timber and stumps. I've always been a catch and release angler, especially with bass but must admit,it was very tempting to keep a few. I've chatted with many WDFW bios and it has been stressed that anglers should harvest a few of the smaller bass to combat the issues with a large stunted bass population that Lake Kapowsin has been suffering but I didn't want to hassle with that,so I released them. Lake Kapowsin holds some excellent bass but it seems like you have to catch a ton of dinks to get to the toads. Kapowsin is a great spiny ray fishery boasting large crappies, perch, bluegills, bass and even big rock bass but it seems like stunted bass is becoming more common and the hawgs are a bit more rare, they are there....just a bit more work to get to them. The forage base seems rather endless,so hopefully we will still see big bass. Anyhow, enough on that. Around 6PM a large rain storm arrived and I opted to get off the water and bs with some buddies and make a few casts at dockside,no such luck. Talked to a few guys trolling for trout, the census was the trout bite isn't as hot as weeks prior but they are still biting in limited numbers.
