Wanted to see what the lake levels looked like at Chelan, in prep for an upcoming bass tournament. So we decided to hit it for some lakers. Got there plenty early, around 615 or so, and we were the only rig at the launch by the dam. The lake level was 1083, and the trailer tires just started to roll of the end of the ramp when the boat floated. A foot less of water and it might get difficult. It is only about 5-6 feet deep going out past the city marina, so that might be trouble too. Anyway, we started trolling out from Chelan Shores, and covered a lot of ground with only one Laker to show for our efforts. The kokanee, on the other hand, were very cooperative and we had our two limits by 930. So, we packed away the whip rods, the corn, and the downriggers, and got out the jerk baits and headed off to look for smallmouth. 8 fish later, we decided to call it a day and head for home. It was a beatiful day on the lake, and the fishing was darn good too. Mostly sunny, winds up to about 15, west to south. Water temps 51-54, depending where we were.
