You are right they are chinook. We have been catching quite a few the last couple years they have been releasing them in the lake for whatever reason. I did catch a 13.5 inch Kokanee a few weeks ago in there though. Thanks for the report!

Nice looking fish! Here's some tips to ID a koke (landlocked sockeye) vs chinook, if it looks like a kokanee, but has a black tongue and spots on the top of its back, then it's chinook not a koke. The kokes won't have any spots at all, and don't have a black tongue. Learned that from the fish biologist a few weeks ago during the Two Rivers Spring Trout derby at Lake Roosevelt. My report for 4/17 shows my wife holding a chinook, our first ever at Roosevelt.

Based on the side by side comparison (pictures). The fish of Steilacoom appear to unanimously prefer "Pabst blue ribbon" over "Raaaainnnnneeeeeerrrrrrr Beeeeeeearrrrrrr". "But when you sound it out, ya have to do it as a motorcycle engine rpm changes with each shift of the gears) Older folk will understand completely. LOL!
