March 1, 2003 at the Camp Murray boat ramp American Lake in Pierce County, I met Michael L.
Williams. He is the Real Property Manager at Camp Murray, WA. He was at the ramp checking Access Tags on
vehicles. We took a quick look and found that almost half of the vehicles did not have Access Tags.
Signs are clearly marked to indicate the requirements of ramp use at Camp Murray. Litter is an increasing
problem at the ramp. I stayed until sunset and picked up the trash as I left. Coffee cups, beverage cans,
plastic bags, left clothing, one zillion cigarette butts, but no fishing products. Mr. Williams talked of
the possibility of the ramp closing to the public for these reasons. I asked him if I could post a warning
on a fishing web site and told him about Washingtonlakes.com. He gave me his business card.
