OK, I,ve been out a few times this "spring", but the bass at Beaver and kokanee at Samish just were not ready to play yet, so I loaded my little watertender into the back of the truck and headed to Lake Erie for an almost sure thing. The trout did not disappoint.
I had a leisurely morning and got to the lake about the crack of noon, and caught he madhouse a the boat ramp just about right. Slid the boat out of the truck as a parking spot opened up and was on the water in less than 10 minutes.
Trolling a brown/yellow spinner or gold 1/3 oz. little Cleo atracted the most attention, though I also got hits on a green/red wedding ring and a trolled wooly bugger. Kids fishing powerbait also seemed to be doing fairly well.
A beautiful afternoon on the water. If I had remembered the net, I probably would have had my limit in about an hour and a half.
