Fished the outlet end of the lake Sunday with mixed results. Water temp was 49 degrees, tons of tiny midges, some chironomid casings, and a few may flies on the surface. Trout were very finicky and it was all about presentation. Started with one rainbow on black/silver chironomid about 6 feet down. Not a lot of activity so headed into reed areas and the shallows. Some pretty nice fish milling around but spooky and not aggressive. Went shallow with smaller black/silver chironomid and got a nice 18 incher in about 4 feet of water. Water was nice and clear so easy to watch them react to my bug. Most would investigate or follow, but not take. Changed to cripple calebaetis and hit one right away in the shallows, then again they seemed to wise up and not take. Wind picked up (there's a surprise) so switched back to chironomid and deeper water. Hit nice tiger near South shore where I had put in. See photo.
